📝 Specs

Specifications are living documents that can be used to facilitate various parts of the clinical programming process. When exporting specs from P21E, there are two options to consider.

📤 Exporting

To export your specs into Excel format, select Export > Excel Spec from the buttons in the top-right corner while viewing your spec.

  • All-in-one tab

    • Our default option; mirrors our legacy export format

    • One worksheet (named Variables) with all definitions for all variables displayed vertically

  • Separate dataset tabs

    • Our new format; facilitates a more focused view by dataset

    • One worksheet per Dataset value on the Datasets tab. Each worksheet only shows variable level metadata for the respective dataset.

📥 Importing

Regardless of your export format selection, importing the Excel workbook back into P21E is as simple as selecting Import > Excel Spec from the buttons in the top-right. P21E automatically detects the workbook format and processes the Excel file accordingly.

Do you have suggestions for additional export options that would be beneficial? We would love to hear them! Our goal is that your workflow is as seamless as possible.
